Garbage Service: Free to Town residents.
Renters are required to pay a $45.00 deposit for the trash container.

Garbage is to be placed at the curb in the Town-provided container each Friday morning no later than 8:30 a.m. The Town's contractor will not stop again if your container was not out the first time he passes.  No exceptions. Please do not leave your container at the curb all weekend.

The Town of Cleveland will provide garbage containers for residents’ use.  These containers are available in 96 gallons. The elderly or handicapped may request a 64 or 32 gallon container.  These are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Only garbage in the containers provided by the town will be picked up.  If you have more garbage than will fit in the 96-gallon container, you must make arrangements with a private hauler to remove the rest.  This would be a perfect opportunity to begin recycling to reduce the amount of garbage generated. [See Recycling News.]

A $45.00 deposit is required for all property where the occupant is not the property owner, i.e., rental and estate property.  The deposit will be in the same name as the water bill.  This deposit is refunded when the occupant moves and the container is returned cleaned and in good condition.

Residents/occupants are responsible for the upkeep of the container.

If you damage your container beyond repair, replacements will be provided at a charge of $45.00.

Only waste generated at occupied residences and small businesses will be picked up.  All garbage and refuse shall have the liquid drained from it and shall be wrapped in paper or other like material before it is placed in the container for collection.  (This means no loose garbage.)  No appliances or plumbing fixtures, furniture, tires, batteries, vehicle parts, scrap metal, building material scraps, yard refuse, tree trimmings, animal carcasses, ashes or industrial waste are to be placed for regular pickup.

Heavy trash pickup is offered twice a year with dates announced in the Town Newsletter.  Large items not picked up on a weekly basis may be placed for pickup during heavy trash pickup with the following exceptions: no tires, batteries, animal carcasses, industrial waste, rocks, gravel, bricks, building material scraps, yard refuse, tree trimmings, hazardous materials such as paints, liquids, etc., televisions, computers, monitors, printers, scanners, computer peripherals such as keyboards and mice or anything not accepted at the county landfill.
